Avid releases Free DV free video editing package for Mac OSX and Windows XP

Avid has just released FreeDV without much fanfare yesterday! I’ve just got the following email in my inbox which delayed me leaving the office for a couple of hours until I downloaded it!

If you live in Bahrain or Saudi or are visiting Bahrain and want your own (free!) copy, please give me a call or email me. I’ve downloaded both the Windows XP and Mac OSX and have them on a CD ready to copy, or if you want to drop in and have a memory stick, come to the office and I’ll copy them for you.

For installation, you still need to register it to get your own username and password to complete the installation. If you have downloaded it already and want to download a newer version (whenever that is available) then all you need to do is go here and enter your email address that you registered with the first time as this will take you directly to the download page rather than entering all your details again.

I’m going to write a review of it and install it on my kids’ computers in the next few days, maybe they can write a review and post it up here for you!
