BBC POST PRODUCTION PURCHASES 14 AVID MEDIA COMPOSER ADRENALINE SYSTEMS FOR NEW FACILITY

IBC, Amsterdam – 12th September 2003 – Avid Technology Europe Ltd., a subsidiary of Avid Technology, Inc., announced today that BBC Post Production has purchased 14 Avid Media Composer Adrenaline™ systems, a 15-seat Avid Unity™ MediaNetwork system with over five terabytes of storage, and a Digidesign® Pro Tools® 6.1 system. The equipment is to be installed in the new Factual and Learning Facility which is located in the BBC White City building. The post-production facility will cater to programmes produced by both the BBC Factual and Learning Unit and other external clients, and will launch in November 2003.

Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, launched at NAB 2003, combines Avid’s next-generation Media Composer editing system with the revolutionary new Adrenaline hardware – part of Avid’s new family of purpose-built Digital Nonlinear Accelerator™ products, or Avid DNA. When paired with next-generation Media Composer software, Adrenaline hardware instantly increases the media processing power beyond the capabilities of today’s leading personal computers.

The 14 Avid Media Composer Adrenaline systems will be linked to the Avid Unity MediaNetwork system, which has a storage capacity of 5.7 terabytes and capacity for up to 15 users to access material simultaneously. The Digidesign Pro Tools system will also be connected to the Avid Unity MediaNetwork system.
